[How to] One-Click method to root Micromax A110 Canvas 2

Micromax A110 Superfone Canvas 2 is currently one of the most popular budget Android smartphones in India. Launched last year with Android ICS (v4.0), Canvas2 has now been updated to JellyBean. As with any other Android device, Canvas 2 can be used more efficiently if it is rooted. Thanks to independent Android developers, an easy, one-click rooting method is available for Canvas 2 as well. So if you want to root your Micromax Canvas 2, follow the steps given below carefully –

Warning – Rooting an Android device will void the warranty (which can be regained by un-rooting though) and in rare cases it may brick the phone so go ahead at your own risk, we won’t be responsible if anything goes wrong. Also do not attempt this method to root any other device except the MMX Canvas 2

Rooting exposes the complete file system of an Android device and thus anything can be deleted (unknowingly or deliberately) with devastating consequences. So you must be very careful while handling the system files after rooting and DO NOT delete any seemingly useless app (which come pre-installed with the OS like Google Play Movies) as this may brick the phone. For average mobile users (90% of us) with limited or no knowledge of Android system, rooting is not required at all, it’s only meant for advanced users and developers to tweak the system. So be very careful and go ahead only if you know exactly what are you going to do with your mobile.

Requirements – Windows computer, Micromax Canvas2, USB data cable, root exploit tool (download)

Process – First of all enable USB Debugging option (found under Settings – Development) in the phone

Connect the phone with computer via USB data cable and let the computer install its drivers. After driver installation finishes change phone’s connection mode to “Media device” if it was USB storage

Extract the root-exploit-tool zip file you downloaded earlier and open the folder. Right click on “RunMe” file and click “Run as administrator”

A command prompt window will open as shown below

Press “1” key at the keyboard and then press enter, phone will reboot and the tool will start the rooting process (pushing root exploit files to the phone). Wait for the process to complete, command prompt will notify you about the success or failure.

After the process finishes, disconnect the phone from computer. Congrats! Now you have a rooted Micromax A110 Canvas2. A new app “SU/SuperUser” will appear in phone menu if rooting was successful. You can also check the root status of phone by the “Root checker” app (available free at PlayStore).
